A blooming cactus is this really strange thing you have to see to believe. Sure, its flowers kind of look like decaying red banana peels and aren’t nearly as attractive as your sexy valentine’s roses. Yet I still find it incredibly inspiring.

A lot of people are like cacti. In this chaotic and messy world, we often put on this tough armor of wax and prickly needles because we are exceptionally soft and fragile inside. We feel the need to protect ourselves and survive without getting hurt. But sometimes, as we muster the courage the step outside of our comfort zones, take risks, and embrace all the challenges, we can bloom, too. It’s breathtakingly beautiful.

If you know cacti people around you, please show them some support, encouragement, and love. If you know you’re a cactus yourself, remember that you’re understood and loved and amazing just the way you are. It's okay to wear an armor. It's okay to take it off.
